Space for Humanity is delighted to welcome three new visionary members to our Board of Directors: Katya Echazarreta, Chris Boshuizen, and Yemi A.D. These extraordinary individuals embody our mission of going to space for Earth, and their inclusion is a bold statement of our intention to continue pushing the envelope on who gets to go to space.
Katya Echazarreta
CA-1 Katya Echazarreta is an electrical engineer and the first Mexican-born American woman to go to space. She was also the first person to be selected to go to space through our Citizen Astronaut Program (CAP). She flew aboard Blue Origin’s New Shepard rocket on June 4, 2022, and has been changing the world ever since, including founding Fundación Espacial, a non-profit organization that aims to empower young people, women, and children, as well as scientists and engineers in Mexico, to pursue advanced studies in the space sector, planetary science, and environmental protection. Her journey from humble beginnings to space traveler and board member shows the incredible potential of our Citizen Astronauts to become leaders and advocates for a more peaceful and sustainable world.
Chris Boshuizen
Chris Boshuizen is an Australian astronaut, scientist, entrepreneur, investor, musician and Vision Circle member. He co-founded Planet Labs, a maker of Earth-imaging satellites that provides a variety of data to companies and industries. Make sure to also check out his music under the name Dr. Chrispy. He flew to space as a commercial astronaut on Blue Origin’s New Shepard NS-18 mission on October 13, 2021 and won the 2014 Advance Global Australian of the Year award. He brings his passion for innovation, creativity, and exploration to our board and our community.
Yemi A.D.
Yemi A.D. is a Czech multidisciplinary creative and serial entrepreneur. He is the founder and CEO of JAD Productions, a creative agency that works with global brands such as Mercedes Benz, Adidas, and Google. He is also a choreographer, performer, and výtvarný umělec. He was selected as one of eight crew members for dearMoon, which is planned to be a civilian lunar space mission. He is a visionary who blends art, culture, and technology to create immersive experiences and stories. We know his influence will help us shape our narrative and impact in ways only Yemi could.
We are honored to have Katya, Chris, and Yemi join our board and bring their diverse perspectives, experiences, and talents to our organization. Together, we will continue to pursue our mission of creating a more inclusive future in space. 🚀.
