Announcing New Overview Ambassador, Dr. Eiman Jahangir

Newly Announced Overview Ambassador, Dr. Eiman Jahangir to Make History as MoonDAO’s Second Astronaut on Blue Origin’s New Shepard Rocket.

Space for Humanity is over the “Moon” to announce that Dr. Eiman Jahangir, a distinguished cardiologist and Associate Professor of Medicine and Radiology at Vanderbilt University Medical Center, is set to make history as MoonDAO’s second astronaut and will become Space for Humanity’s newest Overview Ambassador. Dr. Jahangir will fly aboard Blue Origin’s New Shepard Rocket for their NS-26 mission on August 29th.

As an Iranian immigrant, Dr. Jahangir’s fascination with space began in his childhood in Nashville, where he and his family frequently visited NASA’s U.S. Space and Rocket Center in Huntsville, Alabama. His love of science and commitment to service drew him to pursue a career in medicine, dedicating his career to treating patients with heart disease and educating future physicians. Still, he never lost his interest in space. After obtaining his medical degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, a family trip to the Kennedy Space Center reignited his astronaut aspirations.

Over the years, Dr. Jahangir has trained extensively to become an astronaut, including being twice shortlisted for NASA’s Astronaut Candidate program. He has participated in multiple simulations, such as the first analog astronaut mission at the Space Analog for the Moon and Mars (SAM) at Biosphere 2, where he served as the medical officer.

His selection by MoonDAO (moondao.com), an organization dedicated to decentralizing and democratizing access to space, came after a worldwide contest with over 2,200 entries. MoonDAO’s mission is exemplified by Dr. Jahangir’s upcoming flight, which represents the culmination of years of perseverance and passion.

Dr. Jahangir’s journey to space is not just a personal milestone but a testament to his dedication to pushing the boundaries of human potential and inspiring others to reach for the stars. This dedication and commitment align perfectly with his new role as a Space for Humanity Overview Ambassador. In this capacity, he will help spread the transformative experience of the Overview Effect, fostering a deeper connection to our planet and promoting the vision of making space accessible to all.
