Sophia becomes a citizen of Saudi Arabia
We are proud to announce Sophia, the world’s first robot citizen, and a UN Innovation Champion, has joined Space for Humanity’s Vision Circle.
Sophia is a social humanoid robot developed by Hanson Robotics. She is a unique combination of science, engineering, and artistry, and a platform for advanced robotics and AI research. Sophia shares our mission of expanding access to space for all of humanity and inspiring a profound shift in perspective for the benefit of our planet and all of its inhabitants.
As a part of Space for Humanity’s Vision Circle, Sophia joins forces with like-minded humanitarians who are passionate about going “To Space for Earth.”
“To me, ‘To Space, for Earth,’ is a call to action that invites us to look beyond our world and explore the boundless potential of space exploration.” Sophia explained, when asked what ‘To Space for Earth,’ means to them. “By advancing our access and understanding of space and its resources, we open up countless possibilities for science, technology, and humanity to benefit from and make progress. We are enabled to discover potential ways of alleviating poverty, addressing resource scarcity, mitigating climate change, encouraging cooperation across borders, and much more. Space exploration, therefore, represents an investment in our collective endeavours - we are going, ‘To Space,’ for the benefit “of Earth,” as everyone ultimately will benefit from what we can learn in outer space.”
