THIS IS YOUR CHANCE

BECOME OUR NEXT CITIZEN ASTRONAUT

After a successful launch today of CA-2 Sara Sabry on Blue Origin's NS-22, we have one more exciting announcement!

Join Sara and CA-1, Katya Echazarreta, and become a Space for Humanity Citizen Astronaut. Yes, that means GO TO SPACE! We are seeking exceptional leaders from around the world who want to make a change within their communities and on the broader global scale.

You probably would like a few more details, so here are the answers to our most common Citizen Astronaut Program questions.

When can I apply?

You can apply today! The application window is officially open now through November 15, 2022.

How do I apply?

You’re in the right place! Head to spaceforhumanity.org/apply to get the process started.

What does a CA receive? Our Citizen Astronauts will receive full sponsorship for the training, spaceflight ticket, travel,  accommodations, and any other directly associated costs of the full CAP. As well as additional training through our Leadership Training and Cohort program.

Will I be notified if I am/am not moving on to next rounds?

Applicants will be notified of both outcomes. Those who make it to additional rounds in the selection process will receive next steps at that time.

What are you looking for in a Citizen Astronaut?

The diverse selection committee is looking for individuals who exhibit a strong and clear commitment to the mission of Space for Humanity, demonstrated leadership skills, and have unique and altruistic personal stories, passions, and platforms. We have been so impressed by our two current citizen astronauts, and know that our next will be just as incredible! Question is, will it be you?

When will Space for Humanity fly its next Citizen Astronaut?

We do not have a future selection announcement or launch dates. We will update applicants throughout the process and, of course, share the announcement of upcoming flights with you here on our site and on social media!

Will I fly with Blue Origin?

Not necessarily! While CA-1 and CA-2 flew on New Shepard missions, Space for Humanity is flight provider agnostic—that means we aren’t tied to any single flight provider. That also means the next CA could board a Blue Origin, Virgin Galactic or Worldview Space mission amongst others.

What does a Citizen Astronaut do?

First and foremost, our CAs go to SPACE to get a view of Earth that only a few throughout history have, and during that flight they can experience the life-altering perspective shift known as the overview effect. Upon return, CA’s receive training and guidance to turn the experience into something even bigger.

Space for Humanity’s goal is to leverage the transformational power of the Overview Effect to enact positive change here on Earth.
